Pictures of the Cretan mountains

Photo page Mountains on Crete

The highest mountain is located in the west between Heraklion and Rethimno. The highest peak, the Psiloritis is 2456 metres high. A true eldorado for Alpinists. We walk up to 1417 m altitude in the Amiras circular walk.

The mountains here, in the east, are challenging enough and much less crowded as in the west of this beautiful island. In the east you will find the Dikti mountains and Tripti mountains. All the way in the east is the town of Sitia, with around it the grapes for the famous Kritikos wines.
